Welcome to YNOTmusic

My Name is Tony Hunter, I was born in Liverpool on 1st May, 1963. Unfortunately I had no interest in football whatsoever so my parents were forced to move away at a very early age !

My main interest in life became music, progressing from a Stylophone to organ to classical organ and piano. I must admit to failing my 'O'level music though, my interest was in the music, not in the lives of some composers who had died a millions years ago (C'mon I was 15 !)

Whilst at school it became painfully apparent that playing the organ wasn't as cool as I would have liked, turning to guitar to impress my friends and their girlfriends (I didn't have a girlfriend at the time as I was home practising !!)

On leaving school and moving to University, my musical capabilities made the lifestyle of being a student much more palatable. Playing 3 or 4 nights a week was hard work, as well as the studying but it made sure that I didn't lose out on any practice, plus enjoying the experience was an added bonus.

On leaving Uni, I spent a few years teaching music, playing in bands and doing studio sessions. I believe I was the first musician to start with the Enterprise Allowance scheme.

I also toured as a solo artist using the latest equipment at the time. There was myself and two competitors playing similar type of music - Howard Jones and Thomas Dolby. I'm happy to say that as they have faded away over the years I am still as famous as I was then !!   Drum machines and sequencers were a major novelty at this time (as was I...) and the thought of seeing a performer without a real drummer horrified most people. The thought of using a real drummers actually horrifies me to this day.

Whilst at college, I studied electronics and computing. As I was playing most nights, my colleagues and employers would more often than not have problems with their equipment to the point that I would travel to bookings with my electronic repair equipment. There reached a point where I found I was starting to earn money from this side of the business.

Then came a major change for me. I was starting to tire of arguing with working men's clubs concert chairman's and fighting with the drunks at the end of the night. This led to me moving to Newcastle University to work in the Physic Department. What had I done ? - a real job ! This is not what I had planned when I was 14.   As I was now getting a salary come what may, it meant the music was now more of a hobby and I could pick and choose the work I did.

It also meant that I could invest all of my music earnings into my newly acquired hobby. Have a look at the gear list to see the sort of thing I was buying.

I now live in Northumberland which I believe is one of the prettiest areas in the UK, if a little colder than the southern areas.

I have progressed to being Test Engineering Manager at a company called TTems which is an electronics sub-contract manufacturing company. My hobby has never gone away and as my long suffering wife and daughter will testify, any house we live in must have a couple of bedrooms and a music room / studio. I even played a Xmas set for my colleagues at the factory this year.

My main advantage of the music I work with is that I love all music, all varieties and styles. My lifestyle means I utilise the very latest equipment to produce live sounds that we couldn't even have imagined just a few years ago.

It used to be a done deal - a club used an organ, a restaurant used a piano and a wedding would use a piano - if they had one.  Now I travel with equipment that I can provide full computerised backing tracks, an amazing variety of drums and instrumental sounds to produce music ranging from classical music and Broadway musicals to pop/rock music. I also use the top of the range Roland piano by the way as the piano will never ever be replaced.

The equipment I use is tailored to suit the venue and the requirements of the customer. I can provide handheld amplifiers through to a full PA system.

I have also been known to be seen utilising my guitar and singing 'skills' busking in one of the North East town centres.

Any queries, please mail me and I will get in back in touch with you.

My lovely wife Pauline is my Manager, my gorgeous daughter Charlotte is my chief roadie and greatest critic.

Pauline will discuss special requirements for your entertainment and as you can see she is always ready for action,

Charlotte is generally in charge of setting up of equipment, when she is available and not nightclubbing with her pals.
